Mathematics and Engineering Foundations (MAEF)
Duration: 5 weeks (full-time)
The main objective of this module is to provide a good foundation on the mathematical as well as the system engineering aspect used in Computer science. Strong foundation in discrete mathematics is required for thorough understanding of computer science concepts. This gives an introduction to mathematical concepts relevant to computer science and integrates the discipline of structured system development process that proceeds from concept to production to operation. It is designed to focus not only on learning of mathematical facts, but also on applying them for the better understanding of computer science.
This module also covers Soft Skills that helps the students in moulding themselves in interpersonal communication, Team spirit, Business ethics and behavioural traits. Soft skills are very important in business to support the technical duties. It is essential to be technically sound, but one should also have the ability to convey the idea to the masses in the simplest possible manner.
This module is aimed at
- Using mathematics as an effective means of communication
- Understand coherence and progression in mathematics and recognize how different areas of mathematics can be connected
- To better represent a real world situation mathematically and how these can be refined and improved.
- Gaining an understanding of the overall and specific aspects of systems engineering
- Study of the existing standards
- Discrete fact finding aspects of systems engineering and broad inquiry
- Soft Skills
