Statistical Machine Translation (SMT)

The purpose of statistical machine translation (SMT) system is to translate the source language sentences (e.g., English) to target language sentences (e.g., Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, etc.) using statistical models. SMT is gaining wide momentum in the MT research community. The translation system performance is enhanced by incorporating language specific features (such as morphology, syntax etc.). The system consists of translation models for each language pair, language models for each of the target languages, and a decoder. We focus on tourism domain for English and Indian language pairs.
