Intelligent Tutoring System

At CDAC Mumbai, we recognize the critical role that testing plays in education and pay special attention to testing in the overall context of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS). We focus on areas of relevance to university-level students and high-school students. The educational services offered by CDAC, Mumbai are a good testbed for evaluating many of the projects in the ITS area. Several testing tools and strategies have been tried out in courses run at CDAC, Mumbai.
We have developed an on-line testing system named Veda and a language tutoring shell named Vidya . The major domains we have worked with include language teaching, high school mathematics and computer programming.
In the domain of high school mathematics, we have worked on coaching systems. These systems pose problems to the users and help them in solving the problems. We investigated the types of communication interfaces which would be effective in such systems and created a remedial mathematics system - .
In the domain of programming, we have looked at the use of visual representations for teaching programming to novices. A visual language - VL which uses dataflow-like representations for representing programs was implemented. Mathemagic
