Sutra – An intelligent Suggestive Translator for Localisation

Sutra is a multi-user translation assistance tool, that makes intelligent suggestions to translators on possible reuse of translations from older version systems or systems with similar domains. The aim is to reduce the translator's efforts and make available translated versions of applications in least possible time. The idea is to enable the translator to translate a string with just a few mouse clicks.

The Sutra environment includes classification of each string (in the file to be translated) based on the kind of match available in a set of translated files of older versions, of the same application or applications in the same domain, indicating to the user the reusable parts of translated strings, editor for editing or adding new Hindi translations for strings, mechanisms to save and edit transaltions and support to download translated file once the translation work is done. Sutra also lets translators to set their degree of match, by allowing them to choose to ignore articles/prepositions/conjunctions while matching, setting the minimum words that need to match in strings for them to qualify as match and making a choice to search for arbitrary or consecutive partial matches. The system is multi-user secure.

• Further classification of partial matches into arbitrary matches and consecutive matches.
• Easy location of reusable parts of the translated strings.
• In-built context-specific glossary support.
• Hindi editor for inserting Hindi translations.
